Here I am at a very young age. And here is my mother. In this shot, she must have been very young, too, before she married and became a mother. I think she is lovely. I see what attracted my dad to her!

I am obviously doing something with whatever I am holding, and I am happily going about that work.

Recently, I read that “a mother is a story without a beginning.” I guess that is true in that none of us has a memory that does not include our mother.

Now my mom is 93, and requires a lot of TLC.

Lately, when I see pictures like this one, I don’t just see myself.

I see Mom or Dad, invisible behind the camera. I imagine them in the first years of their married life, proudly taking a shot of their first child.
